What criteria would you use to select a Driving Instructor?  Here are some of our ideas that you need to be aware of.  Alternativley, you can also use the DSA 'Find an Instructor' online service here.

Lesson prices?

Go for the cheapest - thats gotta be the best value for money.  Wrong!  Cheap lessons are a false economy.  Are you getting a full hour tuition with a fully qualified instructor?  Or are you sitting at the side of the road talking?  or picking up the next pupil in your lesson time? or staying close to home on side roads to save fuel.

The car that they use?

This shouldn't matter.  Proving that the car is fairly new and in good condition.  Driving an older car with heavily worn controls can have an effect on your confidence.  Pedals, steering and all controls should be light and responsive, and the best way to ensure this is with a modern new(ish) car.

Gimicks and offers

Gimicks and offers are generally a way of reigning you in and tie-ing you into a longer more expensive period of lessons.  After all, these people have to recever their initial losses from you.

Recommendation?

Yes, yes, yes.  Trust the judgement of people that you knwo who have passed or are learning with an Instructor.

Lady-drivers will never be the cheapest, but strives the be the best, and you should always feel that you have accomplished something every lesson.
